Rev. Jean Boboc

Father Jean served at the Cathedral of the Holy Archangels in Paris, of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Western and Southern Europe. He was Doctor of Orthodox Theology of the St. Sergius Institute, and studied medicine at the Faculté de médecine de Paris, specializing in clinical pharmacology and toxicology, while devoting much of his work in the field of Bioethics. Fr Jean worked as a clinical practitioner and researcher in France and the United States and was the first dean of the Dumitru Stăniloae Orthodox Center for Studies and Research in Paris. We were blessed to listen to Fr Jean Boboc's inspiring paper at the 2nd SOW Conference in Athens in February 2018 on the issue of transhumanism, where he stated that the promise of a cybernetic eternity, itself rooted in the long tradition of the utilitarianist philosophy, must be seen as inextricably tied to the dismal prospect of a groundless humanity, and thus outside of the Orthodox Christian perspective. Fr Jean slept in God on April 4, 2019
