The Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (IHR, NHRF) and the Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC) are pleased to announce the organization of the 2023 International Summer School on Science and Religion on the island of Crete, Greece. The one-week intensive summer school aims to provide participants with knowledge of the history of the relations between Christianity and Science as well as with an in-depth knowledge of the relations between Orthodox Christianity and Science. It is addressed to university students, Ph.D. candidates, and researchers in the field of Religion, Science, History, Philosophy, Technology, Didactics, Theology, as well as to those interested in the interconnection between religion and science. The Summer School is held from 21 to 28 June 2022. The instructors are researchers from IHR, NHRF as well as the renowned professors Rev. Dr. Christopher Knight (Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies, Cambridge, United Kingdom) and Jaume Navarro (University of the Basque Country, Spain). All have extensive experience in the study of Science and Religion. IHR, NHRF is implementing the international project SOW - Science & Orthodoxy around the World since 2016, funded by the Templeton World Charity Foundation, Inc. The Summer School is also funded by BREPOLS Publishers. The lectures and workshops, as well as accommodation, will take place on the premises of the Orthodox Academy of Crete at Kolymvari, Crete where the Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church took place in 2016. The courses will be taught in English and will be offered to a limited number of applicants who will be selected by the summer-school scientific committee.
